National Ex-POW Association

The Intrepidus Journal was the Official Journal of the National Ex-Prisoner of War Association and was Horizon’s first production, commissioned first in 1996. Intrepidus was an annual production and printed to raise awareness of the depredations that many British servicemen taken prisoner during the Second World War experienced, from often violent treatment from their captors or forced slave labour.

Due to the publicity from the journal a memorial to all British Ex-PoWs was erected in Fallingbostel, Germany, the site of a prisoner of war camp.

At the time the journal featured articles and messages of support from many celebrities including Spike Milligan, Dame Vera Lynn (who became a Patron of the Association), Tony Blair, Joanna Lumley, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh and many more to name but a few.
